US-American Emily Yaffe is a Julliard-trained violist who came to Basel in 2005.
After building up a private violin studio, Emily decided to join forces with several colleagues and start a music school. She founded the International Community Music School-Basel (ICMS) in 2011, with the hope of forming connections between students and families from different backgrounds through a shared interest in music.
Over the past 6 years, Emily has worked to make the transition from private music teacher to school director and employer of more than 10 teachers. ICMS, which at the time of its founding had nine students, now has 120 students who perform regularly throughout Basel.
Come visit the International Community Music School-Basel, meet Emily, hear her story and discuss the ups and downs of a business ownership with her!
And, as it is all about music, some of Emily’s students have prepared a special gift for you.
The meeting will start with an apero at 7:00 pm at the ICMS, Fürstensteinerstrasse 85, 4053 Basel.
